Absolutely not. That was the dumbest way to kill off the first person to ever defeat Freddy. Anyway she's still in the beautiful dream Kristen made for her.

In Wes Craven's draft of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3, Nancy was meant to live. In a 1987 Fangoria interview with Heather Langenkamp, Heather actually told the interviewer that her character would survive her second encounter with Freddy.
Wes' original concept for the film when asked to write it was a story that ultimately became Wes Craven's New Nightmare, but at the time was rejected by the studio, so he wrote a new script that would keep Freddy as he had been in the previous two films. Just as he did in the original Nightmare on Elm Street, Wes wanted a "happy" ending for Nightmare 3. The studio, however, demanded a shocking "twist" ending that would ensure a 4th Elm Street venture. Wes refused to back down as he had on the original and ultimately he divorced himself from the series until New Nightmare was made. Chuck Russell and Frank Darabont rewrote the ending and had Nancy Thompson die.
